A Winemaker's Guide to the Barossa
FILMING IN THE BAROSSA FOR QANTAS TRAVEL INSIDER

THE TRIP
I flew down to Adelaide in February and drove out to the Barossa Valley to meet Chris Ringland, who graciously welcomed us into his home. We spent two days filming with Chris in his vineyard and surrounding areas and it really was a wonderful experience. Great wines, amazing food and beautiful shooting locations, it doesn’t get much better.
THE HIGHLIGHT
The highlight was a late afternoon picnic at the Eden Valley Look out, one of Chris’s favourite spots, with some of his closest friends. The picnic table was laden with amazing local produce, wine from Chris’s vineyard and beautiful views across the valley. As Chris says, there is something wonderful about getting together with old friends and sharing a bottle of aged wine, it’s a symbol of that enduring friendship.
GEAR
I took my documentary kit, which includes a Sony F5, Canon L Series zooms, DJI Phantom drone and a DJI Osmo. We filmed for two days, under perfect conditions with blue skies and lots of sun and managed to come away with some great content, pretty images and most importantly, half a dozen bottles of wine.
